Job Description:
Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated individual who provides continuity of care for women and their families, living in the most deprived area of the borough. You will be part of a supportive and experienced team providing antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
You will care for your own caseload, with a collective team commitment to cover intrapartum care. Typical working patterns within the team are two short shifts a week providing antenatal and postnatal care, followed by two long shifts (days or nights) where we provide care for CoC caseload women on the labour ward or birth centre. There are no on call commitments in this role.
We value your experience working alongside us and acknowledge that fulfilled midwives put women at the centre of their work. As a midwife you are part of the woman’s family, and develop a mutually respectful and satisfying relationship.
We understand and value that each of our midwives are individuals. With individual needs, motivation and aspiration we are committed in supporting you. By working in our Continuity of Carer Team, you will be supported by your Team Leader and Matron. Alongside this, you will also have support from our Professional Midwifery Advocates, through Restorative Clinical Supervision, group and 1:1 sessions. We have a well-established Employee Wellbeing Service, training and development and opportunities that you may choose to access as part of your personal development and extended support.
Main duties of the job
To provide high quality, evidence based holistic midwifery care to women requesting homebirth or a caseload model of care. To provide continuity of care to women from booking, antenatal, intrapartum and beyond. The midwife will be required to work as part of a team and participate in the on-call rota to facilitate the women’s desired place of birth.
Supervises: Health care support workers, Student midwives, and junior qualified staff.
