Guaranteed Standby Payment: £241.37 per week (Friday AM to Friday AM)
Plus, Call-out Pay: 5 hours at £21.25 per hour PAYE Adv, when called in to work
Paid Training: One day theory + one day practical to obtain a Winter Ticket
Contract: Zero-hours contract
Contract Period: 1st November 2025 - 28th March 2026
Working Hours: Weather-dependent, maximum 5 hours gritting per shift with a 1-hour break. Possible 2 shifts in a 24-hour period (with a 10-hour rest between).
Onboarding: Digital handbook via app; digi card to be downloaded weekly on site for compliance
PPE Provided: Trousers, jackets, high-vis, hard hat, gloves (boots available if required)
Operation: Runs 24/7 during winter months
Daily Briefing: 11:00 am meeting to assess weather actions; call-outs may occur at short notice (early mornings or late evenings)
Important Notes:
Once committed, you cannot undertake other driving duties while on standby between November and March.
All work is carried out on tachographs.
Training dates will be confirmed in advance (starting immediately). Trainers get booked quickly during the winter period, so early confirmation is essential.
Its important to consider your proximity to the site, as you will need to be on site within 1 hour of being called in, while driving with due care and diligence in severe weather conditions
