To work as part of a team taking a lead role in providing secretarial support for the consultants, junior medical staff in the team with particular responsibility for audio typing (clinics, discharge summaries) as delegated by Team Leader.
Main duties of the job
To type all correspondence relating to out-patients and in-patients, including typing of departmental correspondence, with a low rate of error and to meet Trust turnaround targets.
Regularly liaising with Team Leader to ensure departmental priorities are met.
Managing consultant's diaries, booking meetings and taking minutes where appropriate.
Arrange patient's new and follow up appointments as required using Care Flow system and liaison with appropriate departments.
Receive enquires from patients and staff, resolving enquiries of a more complex nature and dealing with as appropriate.
Liaise professionally with all departments regarding admissions, waiting lists, ad hoc ward attenders and cancellations ensuring hospital policies are adhered to.
To provide cross cover for secretarial team during annual leave and sickness.
Co-operate with the introduction of new procedures, policies or technology, including any technology associated with the Patient Administration System (PAS/CareFlow) assisting team leads with implementation.
To participate in team, professional and personal development activities and promote commitment to continuous development and improvement.
To obtain investigation results and exercise judgement to ensure that medical attention Is urgently drawn to results and all results are filed in patient's records.
