SEN Drama Teacher – Inspiring Creativity & Confidence in Every Learner

Are you passionate about using drama to transform lives? Do you have the creativity, empathy, and resilience to engage students with special educational needs (SEN) through expressive arts?
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Drama Teacher to join our vibrant and supportive specialist education team. You will play a key role in delivering engaging, inclusive and therapeutic drama lessons that build confidence, communication, and emotional wellbeing in students with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver imaginative and accessible drama lessons tailored to diverse learning needs
* Foster a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment
* Use drama to develop students’ communication, self-expression, and collaboration skills
* Work closely with SENCOs, therapists and teaching assistants to support Education Health Care plans (EHCPs)
* Contribute to wider school enrichment activities and performances
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), ECTs welcome to apply
* Experience working with children and young people with SEN (in schools or other settings)
* Strong knowledge of drama/theatre techniques and ability to adapt them for therapeutic and educational purposes
* Excellent communication, behaviour management and team-working skills
* A creative, calm and child-centred approach
Desirable:
* Experience delivering performing arts or therapeutic drama in SEN or SEMH settings
* Training in Makaton, PECS, or other communication tools
