Your New Role
We have fantastic opportunities for Permanent Highway Maintenance Operatives to join our NMC North East Account in Dundee.
Our NMC NE Account, awarded to us in 2022, supports Transport Scotland. It aims to deliver improved service levels to the trunk road network, ensuring consistent, predictable, and reliable journeys for road users. The work includes maintenance, road safety, bridges and structures, and improvement schemes, aligned with Scottish Government climate and sustainability targets. We will also enhance winter and incident response services, improve communications, and implement new technologies for better asset management.
The Highway Maintenance Operative plays a key role in minor and major civils schemes as well as routine maintenance activities.
The standard hours are 39 per week, Monday to Friday, with overtime, on-call rotas, and night shifts as required.
Responsibilities
* Undertake highway maintenance works, including drainage, kerbing, and civils schemes.
* Lead a squad and coordinate with other team members.
* Complete scheme records such as diaries and measurement records.
* Drive and operate vehicles and plant, ensuring checks and maintenance.
* Participate in winter maintenance, including emergency call-outs.
* Prioritize safety for yourself and the team.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications
* Previous winter maintenance experience (desirable).
* Valid HGV Class 2 license (training available for suitable candidates).
* Experience in civils, trades, or street works (desirable).
