Community Partners is working with an Acute NHS Trust in the East Midlands / East of England region to appoint an experienced Interim Chief Pharmacist for an initial 3-6 month assignment.
This is a critical senior leadership position within the organisation, providing professional and operational oversight of pharmacy services during a period of transition and ongoing service demand.
The Trust is seeking an accomplished hospital pharmacy leader who can bring immediate grip, credibility, and assurance across medicines governance, clinical services, and workforce leadership.
The Role
As Interim Chief Pharmacist, you will be responsible for:
* Providing strategic and operational leadership across all pharmacy services
* Acting as the Trust’s lead professional for medicines optimisation, safety, and governance
* Ensuring delivery of high-quality clinical pharmacy services across inpatient and outpatient settings
* Supporting multidisciplinary teams to maintain safe, effective and compliant medicines management
* Leading workforce planning, performance, and development across the pharmacy function
* Advising the executive team on pharmacy strategy, risk, and regulatory requirements
* Maintaining strong oversight of medicines assurance, formulary management, and policy adherence
Candidate Requirements
To be considered, you will need:
* Registration as a Pharmacist with the GPhC
* Significant senior leadership experience within an acute NHS hospital pharmacy setting
* Proven ability to operate at Chief Pharmacist or Deputy Chief Pharmacist level
* Strong knowledge of medicines governance, safety frameworks, and regulatory compliance
* Experience leading teams through operational pressure and organisational change
* Confidence engaging at executive and board level within an NHS Trust environment
Location & Working Pattern
This role requires an on-site presence to provide visible leadership and support.
* Based in the East Midlands / East of England
* On-site attendance required minimum 3+ days per week
