Are you friendly, reliable, and curious about the world of pawnbroking? We're looking for a part-time Sales Assistant to join our team at The Money Merchant, Ballymena.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sales Assistant to join our team in a busy Pawnbroker's shop.
The work is varied and no two days are ever the same
What You'll Be Doing:
* Greeting customers and making them feel at ease
* Assisting with buying, selling, and loan transactions
. Determining what the value of any item is to make a proposal to your customer
* Handling jewellery, electronics, and other valuables with care
* Keeping the shop tidy, organised, and inviting
* Supporting social media and in-store promotions
You will undertake all the responsibilities of running the business on your days in the shop. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, is highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will ultimately work on your own in the business, once you have been fully trained. You must be astute, "street wise", good with handling money and have the self confidence to "stand over" any proposal that you make to a customer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Open and close the shop at the start and end of each working day
Ensure the till balances at the start and end of the day
Provide a professional and friendly service to all our customers
Have the authority and presence of maintaining your proposal to a customer and not being pressured into offering more money than you want
Be diligent and thorough in checking every item carefully before making a proposal to the customer on their item/s
Take time in coming to a decision on whether you want to conduct a transaction over every single item/s that you are asked to lend money against
Maintain customer records and transactions and file them accordingly
Keep the window display in a clean manner and up to date
Assist in dealing with expired stock and successfully "dropping" it into one of its options for future redemption
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
A warm, approachable personality
Good attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills
Confidence handling customer queries
Able to work under pressure
Retail experience is a bonus—but not essential
Good communication skills and with patience to listen to and understand a customers needs
Strong organizational and time management skills
Comfortable to work on your own
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and computers generally
Any successful candidate will be Police checked
HOURS OF WORK -- Below are the proposed working hours, but there is the possibility of working alternate Fridays & Saturdays. Open for discussion. It is also possible for fewer hours per week if desired
Monday 9.30am to 4pm
Wednesday 12 noon to 4pm
Saturday 9.30am to 4pm
