Join Our Team as a Casual Governance Clerk

Skipton/Craven Cluster | Flexible Hours | £20/hour + holiday pay

Application Deadline: 9am, Monday 8th September 2025

Are you highly organised, detail-focused, and passionate about supporting school governance? Leeds Diocesan Learning Trust is looking for skilled and committed Governance Clerks to join our growing team supporting Local Academy Councils across our Skipton and Craven cluster of primary schools.

About Us

LDLT is a vibrant and inclusive multi-academy trust rooted in the Church of England, serving 13 primary schools across North and West Yorkshire. We believe in flourishing through loving, living, and learning together—offering a secure and nurturing environment for all schools, whether Church or community-based.

The Role

As a Governance Clerk, you'll play a key role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of governance meetings. You'll support Local Academy Councils by:

• Preparing and distributing agendas and meeting papers

• Attending and accurately minuting council meetings (typically four per year)

• Providing procedural and governance advice

• Monitoring actions and ensuring compliance with Trust procedures

You’ll work independently, flexibly around scheduled meetings, and liaise with school governors, the Chair, and our central team. This role is casual and perfect for those seeking meaningful work with flexibility.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience writing clear, concise minutes

• Strong communication and organisation skills

• Ability to manage your own time and meet strict deadlines

• Willingness to travel locally and work evenings

• A commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism

Desirable: Governance or education sector experience, familiarity with Church school distinctiveness, or National Training Programme for Clerks.

We Offer

• £20.00 per hour + holiday pay

• Local Government Pension Scheme

• Ongoing CPD and training opportunities

• Mileage and business travel expenses

• A welcoming and purpose-driven team environment

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to local education while working flexibly in a supportive, values-led organisation.

Commitment to safeguarding

Leeds Diocesan Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its pupils, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We promote diversity and want a workforce which reflects the population of our city. Appointments are made subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.
