Marley Risk Consultants Ltd are a chartered Loss Adjusters servicing the needs of the Property Latent Defects Insurance market across the UK. Established in 2013, we have offices in Shrewsbury, London and Cheltenham and are going through a period of growth to meet the needs of our expanding client base.

* Yearly salary: £45,000 - £55,000
We are seeking an experienced Loss Adjuster to evaluate insurance claims and manage a portfolio of Latent Defect Claims on both a delegated and retained authority basis. The role would suit an experienced Building Surveyor skilled in residential buildings claims, defect diagnosis and building pathology. You will be home-based and are expected to travel to sites throughout the UK.
Job Location: Home-based anywhere in the UK. Can work from our offices if desired.
Job Type: Full-time (Mon-Fri).
Key Activities
* Manage and undertake loss adjusting services on an allocated portfolio of Latent Defect Insurance Claims, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
* Attend site visits and on-site meetings to investigate causation and cover.
* Review reports and gather information to fully investigate each claim.
* Collaborate with Surveyors, Engineers, Solicitors and Insurers to discuss claims, plan investigation strategies, advise on liability and costs, and make recommendations on policy liability and claims handling strategy.
* Manage diary to ensure optimum use of time and resources, meeting deadlines.
* Update Claims Management Portal System to keep loss adjusting records accurate and complete, with data securely stored according to guidelines.
* Periodically attend team meetings at Shrewsbury head office.
* Perform other tasks as reasonably required by Senior Management.
* Participate in internal or external training as required (including high level CII/CILA qualifications). The company will cover training costs but may reclaim some costs if you leave within a specified timeframe.
* Manage inbound and outbound communications with insurers, policyholders, professionals and industry specialists.
* Ensure accurate and timely settlement of claims by liaising with policyholders and experts.
* Identify and pursue recoveries and liaise with legal advisors.
* Adopt a proactive approach in managing your claim portfolio and ensure customers are treated fairly in line with policy terms and legal requirements.
* Occasionally opportunities may arise to join other Loss Adjusters or Claims Handlers on site visits across the UK.
* Participate in team discussions to highlight issues and promote group learning.
Skills And Experience Required
* Experience in managing construction claims, including simple and complex claims. Experience with latent defects insurance for new builds, conversions and self builds is preferred; candidates with residential building surveying, building pathology, defect diagnosis, subsidence claims, general insurance buildings work or related fields will be considered.
* Experience with IT systems including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams. Experience with Claims Management Portal Systems; specific training on company systems will be provided.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Good understanding of building regulations, construction law, and insurance law and their practical applications.
* Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Well organized with excellent time management and attention to detail.
* Confident working independently under instruction.
* ACII/ACILA/MRICS/MCIOB/MCABE qualified, or working towards Advanced Diploma or higher; Chartered qualifications are desirable, but candidates with lower levels of these qualifications will also be considered.
* Bachelor’s degree preferred, with GCSE English Language grade 5/C or equivalent.
* Qualifications or experience in Building Surveying, Approved Inspector or Building Control roles would be advantageous.
* Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required (occasional overnight stays may be involved).
