Programme Quality Engineer

Opportunity:
The Programme Quality Engineer will deliver Mission Assurance support across assigned projects and programmes. The role ensures technical and process compliance for hardware and electrical system development, with responsibility for oversight, inspection, and acceptance of system deliverables. The engineer has authority to prevent release of deliverables until standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct Mission Assurance and Quality Assurance activities during project acquisition and execution.
* Provide independent oversight to ensure compliance with internal, contractual, and external standards.
* Participate in programme and project gate reviews to support project success.
* Collaborate with project teams and supply chain staff to ensure supplier quality, including onboarding and ongoing performance management.
* Support risk and opportunity management activities.
* Assist in subcontract management and ensure programme-specific processes are documented.
* Provide QA reports and escalate significant risks or issues.
* Ensure deliverables meet quality and contractual standards.
* Liaise with customers, suppliers, and third parties regarding Mission and Quality Assurance.
* Collect, interpret, and present QA metrics to project leadership.
* Follow up on audits to validate resolution of non-conformities.
Essential Qualifications/Experience:
* Quality Assurance experience, ideally in a systems engineering environment.
* Familiarity with defense or government assurance requirements and practices.
* Experience delivering defined Quality Assurance requirements.
* Experience in quality improvement, lessons learned, and root cause analysis.
* Experience in risk identification, reporting, and management.
* Willingness to travel within the UK and a valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge:
* Knowledge of APQP/PPAP methodology, preferably AS9145.
* IPC 610/620 Certification for electrical inspection.
* Experience creating and interpreting Quality Management Plans (QMPs) to meet defense standards.
* Knowledge of defense engineering standards and systems engineering principles.
* Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 27001.

* Fluent in written and spoken English.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency with MS Office, JIRA, ERP systems (e.g., SAP).

Security Clearance:
* Must be a sole British National.
* Must be able to gain and maintain UK Government security clearance (SC).
