VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council in the recruitment of a Head of Compliance to lead their Information Governance and Records Management functions. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to step into a strategic leadership role within a dynamic public sector organisation.
The Role
As Head of Compliance, you will:
* Lead the Council's Information Governance agenda, including Data Protection, FOI, and Environmental Information.
* Act as the Council's Data Protection Officer (DPO), ensuring GDPR compliance and managing data breaches.
* Oversee the development and implementation of Records Management Strategy, including electronic document systems.
* Provide expert advice to senior leadership and elected members on compliance and governance matters.
* Represent the Council in external forums and tribunals, ensuring best practice and statutory compliance.
The Ideal Candidate
* Degree-qualified with 2+ years' management experience in compliance, governance, or records management.
* Proven experience in budget management and staff supervision.
* Strong working knowledge of GDPR, FOI, and Data Protection legislation.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to interpret complex legislation.
