Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate financial records using Sage accounting software
* Process purchase and sales invoices, receipts, and payments
* Complete bank reconciliations and manage petty cash
* Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines
* Manage payroll, pensions, and staff expenses
* Support preparation of monthly management accounts and cash flow reports
* Liaise with external accountants, HMRC, and suppliers where required
* Monitor aged debtors and creditors, ensuring timely payments and collections
* Maintain organised records in line with data protection and audit requirements
* Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support business decisions
Requirements
* Proven experience as aBookkeeper, preferably within hospitality or retail
* Proficiency in Sage (essential)
* Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, VAT, and payroll
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
* Good communication skills with a professional approach
Desirable
* AAT qualification (or equivalent) preferred but not essential
