Responsibilities
* Managing the internal book process of specified books. This includes scheduling, compiling the jacket copy, populating Advanced Title Information, liaising with the author, adhering to delivery dates, liaising with Production, typesetters, designers, photographers and illustrators and managing a budget for the book
* Managing and briefing freelancers in relation to budget, schedules and output and then checking their work
* Working closely with the commissioner of the book, as a team, to effectively publish and produce the book, ensuring that the author has a good experience and the book’s potential is realised
* Writing first class copy, including online copy, jacket copy and subtitles, and ensuring all metadata is created and entered on the system in good time, to have a positive impact on the success of the book; updating copy and metadata in order to continue this impact as the market changes
* Acting as a point of contact for authors, to answer questions where possible and pass other queries onto the relevant individual. The Editor is expected to provide excellent author care at all times
* Championing your book internally and engaging your designated team from Marketing, Publicity, Sales and Rights to get the book the attention it needs
* Working to fulfil the publishing vision of the commissioner, and inputting your own ideas for all aspects of a book’s package, including format, binding, finishes, design, price and promotional campaign
Illustrated specific
* Planning, booking and running photoshoots
* Briefing and managing designers, photographers, illustrators and stylists
* You are required to regularly work with InDesign as a part of your role
Qualifications
* Able to prioritise, multitask and work under pressure
* Initiative, confidence and creative motivation
* Strong attention to detail
* A clear vision for the book
* Engaged with popular culture and well-informed of current trends
Preferred criteria:
* Familiarity with Biblio is desirable

Circa £34,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. For this role we expect that you will be in the office around 2 days a week.
