The Senior Project Control Manager will play a key role in supporting assigned project manager(s) to deliver the targeted Major Project outcomes. Key Responsibilities: * To support the project manager to deliver a successful project through all phases from development, execution and closeout. To produce all outputs, including but not limited to:- * Periodic project performance reports suitable for the various audiences, including actual and forecast performance in cost, schedule, issues, risks, opportunities, Benefits (and Earned Value if requested). * To produce a WBS structure suitable for integration into industry standard Project Control systems. * To deliver risk and opportunity workshops for identification purposes on an agreed periodicity and conduct period updates to the risk and opportunity register, with specific reporting on the effectiveness of risk mitigation/opportunity exploitation actions. * Analysis of performance impacts (positive and negative) providing recommendations to the Project Manager for action responses. * Periodic reporting of the contract claims and the project contingency balance remaining. * Change control document requests when necessary. * Management and facilitation of lessons learned workshop to an agreed periodicity and the subsequent effective dissemination of the identified lessons within the project team and between other declared Major Projects and interested stakeholders. * Provide a document management structure such that key documentation and decisions are stored and retrievable. * Management of formal contract information exchanges consistent with the contractual terms. To ensure that: * a logic linked (potentially resource loaded) schedule exists, is of sufficient quality, is sufficiently. accurately statused each period and is effective in its identification of threats and opportunities to the project critical path. * approved project change requests are implemented. * a WBS Dictionary is prepared to the defined template and is maintained through the life of the project. * the contract claims process is managed according to the defined contract mechanisms and timings. * Support and contribute when requested to the broader ScotRail Communications activities related to Major Projects. * To contribute to the preparation and annual update of the Major Projects project controls process and procedures. * Confirm the validity of project progress through in person engagement (this will involve some off-site travel). * Any other reasonable duties assigned, commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post. * Act in a safe manner at all times and comply with all ScotRail internal processes. What you bring: Essential: * Educated to degree level or equivalent * Must demonstrate significant experience in a project control role for a construction or manufacturing project of value exceeding £100m * Expertise in MS Project and MS Excel and PowerPoint * Experience of building reports with Power BI * Evidence of report production skills and tailoring for a variety of audiences * APM or PMI accreditation or a willingness to attain this accreditation, evidenced by personal development activities * Experience in engaging effectively across an organisation with technical experts and senior staff * Strong team working skills Desirable: * Experience in the introduction of a project controls function to a project team * Proficiency in Primavera P6 * Previous experience delivering major projects in the UK rail industry The role works Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week and is based in Atrium Court with hybrid arrangements available (3 days in the office minimum).
