Venue Manager – 40ft Blackhorse
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Venue Manager to lead our Blackhorse Road site. This is a "hands-on" leadership role where you will take full ownership of the venue’s success, from the quality of the pour to the energy of our major events. You won't just be "on shift"—you will be the driving force behind the venue's reputation and performance.
You will be responsible for:
* General Management: Overseeing all venue operations including the bar, food offering, and an evolving events calendar.
* Venue Excellence: Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and building maintenance. You are the guardian of H&S compliance and venue presentation.
* Financial Control: Managing the P&L with a focus on rota efficiency and balancing labour costs against sales performance.
* Team Leadership: Building a high-performing team. This includes clear communication, coaching, and utilizing HR structures to hold the team accountable.
* Events & Administration: Owning the "end-to-end" experience for enquiries and bookings. You must be present to oversee the major events you have organized.
* Attention to Detail: Ensuring all customer touchpoints—menus, A-boards, social posts, and event details—are accurate, on-brand, and on time.
Work Location 40ft Blackhorse Taproom, Walthamstow. (With occasional reporting at our Dalston site).
Required
* Proven experience in Venue or General Management within the London hospitality or craft beer scene.
* Strong financial acumen and experience managing rotas and labour margins.
* Excellent organizational skills with a "no-detail-is-too-small" mindset.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage team performance firmly but fairly.
* A passion for UK craft beer and the local Walthamstow community.
* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to oversee peak trade and major events.
* Must be a self-starter, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
* A passion and willingness to lead the events programme; from pitching creative ideas, outreach to third-party event organisers, developing marketing plans (including writing copy and working on creative assets), managing ticketing platforms and event planning (run sheets, risk assessments, TENs applications).
Pay & Benefits
* Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 per annum (Depending on experience) + Performance Bonus
* Private healthcare through Vitality
* Employee Assistance Programme & Early Pay access
* Ethical company pension scheme
* Generous taproom beer allowance and discounts at neighbouring venues.
