Are you driven to support and care for children and young people experiencing mental health challenges?

We are looking for aClinical Nurse Lead to join our team at the Highfield Adolescent Inpatient Unit, based at the Warneford Hospital in Oxford.

Why This Role?This is a unique opportunity to build and develop your leadership skills while working with an experienced and supportive senior team. You'll have the chance to lead and shape the future direction of the unit, influencing the development of care models and contributing to the growth of our workforce. Additionally, you'll work closely with external agencies--including commissioners, social care, community services, and placement provisions--ensuring holistic care for the children and families we support.

Work patternThis will involve 1-2 shifts on the ward to ensure clinical skills are maintained and support / supervision is provided to the nurses. This role will generally be full time Monday - Friday (9-5) with the expectation to work 1 weekend day over the month. This role can offer the possibility of looking at flexible candidate to suit the appropriate candidate.

Main duties of the job

* Provide effective organisation and delivery of high-quality nursing care and clinical leadership within the Highfield Adolescent Unit
* Maintain and develop nursing care to the optimum standard possible within the resources provided.
* Work collaboratively with the senior nursing team to ensure effective joint working with statutory and voluntary agencies for responsive and appropriate service delivery to young people, families, and carers.
* Lead the nursing team development, support nursing staff career pathways, facilitate training, and provide clinical supervision.
* Lead the clinical response to crises on the ward, including facilitating debriefs, signposting to staff wellbeing services, and organising additional team or individual support.

Job responsibilities

Leading an inpatient team can be demanding, and this role is no exception. Our unit cares for 18 young people who require the highest standard of nursing care, and the Band 7 Clinical Nurse Lead is crucial in ensuring the nursing team has the support and guidance needed to deliver this. This is a fast-paced and dynamic position, requiring the ability to adapt and respond to the ever-changing needs of the ward and collaborate effectively with external teams.

Person Specification


Experience

* Nursing experience in an acute setting.
* Demonstrates background of leading audit and developing nursing care in response to findings.
* Experience in acute adolescent care in an inpatient unit (CAMHS).


Qualifications

* A degree in Mental Health nursing.
* Master's degree or equivalent in related studies


Skills

* Competent in clinical risk assessment and management.
* Demonstrates skills in leading and managing staff.
