This role requires a highly organised Social Value Lead to work within Compass Education sector.

The role works within Chartwells Social Value team to drive our Social Value agenda across the schools within our Mitie schools.

The role is responsible for managing and executing the Social Value Action Plan for Chartwells across 235 primary and secondary schools in the Mitie contract. Working alongside the central Chartwells Social Value Team (owners of the sectors emerging Social Value Action Plan 2025), this role will be the driving force behind the execution of key projects within the schools. The role will also be responsible for the measurement and evaluation of the initiatives on a termly basis.

Our Chartwells Social Value Action Plan is rooted in the organisations three promises Our Social, Climate and Wellbeing promises. Its a pivotal moment in time; and this role will contribute to the operational translation of commitments across Mitie schools so that practical, sustainable change is implemented to business as usual. The role will also work very closely with the Operations Teams in the Mitie schools and liaise directly with the onsite catering teams, academics at each school, and the Senior Leadership Team at the schools.

Engaging with parents is equally as important as engaging with children through social value initiatives; the successful candidate will focus on engagement with all stakeholders to help drive participation, ensuring all children and families know how to access a nutritious, hot lunch with Chartwells.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, and a passion for engaging stakeholders to drive change.

Key Responsibilities

Build a bespoke social value action plan for the Mitie schools
Responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Mitie social value action plan, working closely
with the Mitie clients and the Chartwells operational teams
Educate and engage the client and operational teams on the social value agenda
Internal
Coordinate & deliver social value projects across all Mitie schools, in relation to the Mitie
social value action plan
Responsible for recording and monitoring data for the progress against the social value
action plan
Contribute to termly business reviews, business development activity including bid
submissions and sales presentations related to the social value agenda
Work alongside the nutrition roles in the Mitie contract to ensure collaborative delivery

Person Specification

BSc or BA degree
3+ years industry experience
Experience implementing social value or added value related projects
Managing programmes and completing projects to tight timeframes (project management)
Ownership of projects as the subject matter expert
Analytical capability and an interest in data to drive solutions
Strong communications skills and clear expertise
Analytical capability and an interest in digital technology/solutions
Confidence explaining complex issues in an easy and understandable way
Effective management of key internal stakeholders
Excellent analytical skills, with a strong risk awareness and thorough understanding of
processes and controls.
Strong communication skills, capable of functioning effectively in teams, one-on-one
situations, and audit presentations.
Effective writing, presentation, and listening skills.
Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Project and change management (or similar) methodology certification/qualification
Knowledge of education sector
Knowledge of public sector procurement and experience of bid writing/supporting submissions
Experience in community based projects linked to wellbeing
Experience using Social Value Portal or similar system
