Overview of Department
The Film and Photography Team is an award-winning, multi-faceted, full-service in house resource creating engaging content for the firm’s audiences, internal and external, around the globe. The team has a broad range of expertise and experience and draw upon these to produce impactful films, animations, stills content and campaigns for the benefit of Baillie Gifford and its clients. The team collaborate with a range of other in-house teams and stakeholders as well as external suppliers and freelancers to deliver engaging and impactful media.
Purpose of Role
In this role, you will excel in video editing and have the ability to work collaboratively within a team and accept creative direction from senior colleagues. You'll work closely with the Post Production Manager to ensure brand, style and tone are to the agreed brief and that post-production projects are completed to schedule and follow the Team’s processes and procedures.
The role is responsible for editing video and audio projects efficiently and to a consistently high standard as required by the Firm, including where appropriate generating motion graphic and animations to either subtly reinforce a live-action campaign message, or drive the visual narrative entirely.

Responsibilities
1. Support the Post Production Manager, work closely with them to achieve the goals of the post-production area, team and Firm, carrying out work as delegated by them
2. Follow the post-production workflow processes to the standards required by the Firm, maintaining accurate filing systems and update workflow management software.
3. Where required, take a brief to grasp the team’s requirements and specifications, following the sign off of the concept by the client. Advise the Post Production Manager and Creative Producer of any potential post-production issues apparent with the agreed creative
4. Attend shoots (both in-house and on location ) taking edit notes. Ingest footage from shoots. Log/input uncut rushes and sound, and synchronising and storing them into files on the system to the required standard
5. Review the raw material and compose the edit from brief, treatment and shooting notes in an NLE application (Adobe Premiere Pro).
6. Create motion graphics to enhance live action video where needed (Adobe Premier Pro & After Effects)
7. Suggest and/or select music/soundtrack, B-roll footage etc, as appropriate
8. Consult with stakeholders and clients to continue developing the cut, incorporating feedback, to make edit decisions to move the work through to final cut stage
9. When the cut is finalised, grade the footage, sweeten the audio and purchase any B-roll etc required. Add in final graphical content and liaise with colleagues regarding risk warnings, distribution and deliverables
Qualifications:
10. Qualification in Filmmaking or equivalent work experience
Your knowledge and experience:
11. Be clear communicator, able to effectively communicate ideas with the team and stakeholders
12. Strong organisational and time management skills - able to follow existing processes and juggle multiple productions concurrently while keeping production notes regularly updated on production management software
13. Be highly adaptable, able to flex as the productions require and be able to think quickly while maintaining composure
14. Experience of live vision mixing a bonus, although training can be given
15. Deadline and quality driven, being able to balance both in the edit to deliver on stakeholder expectations
16. A history of working with and adhering to brand guidelines
The type of candidate that we're looking for:
We're looking for a detail-focussed Video Editor with a proven history of delivering high quality moving image with the ability to create and add motion graphics where necessary on projects to brief and brand. They should have excellent storytelling, organisational and problem-solving skills, with a flexible and collaborative approach to working with both the wider team and the firm's internal stakeholders.
