About us: The Aircraft Operations team is responsible for defining and predicting how aircraft airframes and systems in development will be operated by airlines. We focus on ensuring that an aircraft remains operable and mature throughout its lifecycle. Our work covers daily aircraft inspections through to heavy maintenance and assessing technologies to improve these aspects for airlines. We measure usability, reliability, availability, and cost-effectiveness today and in the future, often via our big data platform. We are a transnational and diverse team working with aircraft programmes, specialist design teams, and customer services daily. We value different ways of thinking to achieve the best technical solution.
What you will be doing: For this internship, you will be involved in a range of activities that includes:
* Developing and leading projects to support the Aircraft Operations teams responsible for the concept of operations of future aircraft, working directly with the teams designing the aircraft;
* Supporting data analytics activities using in-service data;
* Supporting projects that influence current Airbus designs (e.g., Wing structures, Landing Gears, Fuel Systems);
* Supporting the wider transnational Aircraft Operations team and interfacing with domains across Airbus.
Additionally you will have opportunities for personal development through initiatives outside your day-to-day tasks.
Requirements
Eligibility: Placements are open to undergraduates only and must be undertaken for the full duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application. Include a CV and a Cover Letter outlining your motivation and suitability.
* Studying for a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Data Science or equivalent;
* Good IT skills and an interest in programming (e.g., Python, Java) is preferable;
* Good understanding of statistics;
* Keen interest in aircraft maintenance and the aviation industry;
* Good written and verbal communication skills in English;
* Creative with an open mindset and a desire to explore and learn;
* Motivated with the ability to manage own activities and work with a multi-skilled, transnational team.
Security clearance: You will be subject to a BPSS check. You may also need UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
