Job Title: Senior Planner
Location: Regional – site-based during construction; office-based during tender and pre-construction phases, with 2 days per week working from home
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Industry: Construction / Planning (Civil Engineering - Highways)
Salary: Up to £80,000 plus package
Fawkes and Reece are currently working with a leading Tier 1 main contractor who are looking to expand their civil engineering division by appointing an experienced Senior Planner. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven planning professional with a background in highways or major infrastructure to join a highly respected name in the industry. As a Senior Planner, you will take a lead role in developing, monitoring and reporting on project programmes across all stages, from tender through to delivery. You will work closely with the pre-construction and site teams to ensure programme information is accurate, achievable, and aligned with project objectives.
Responsibilities
* Lead the preparation of tender and construction programmes using planning software (Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject)
* Assess and integrate subcontractor and supplier programmes into the overall master programme
* Attend and contribute to planning meetings, risk workshops and progress reviews
* Monitor progress, identify deviations, and propose mitigation strategies
* Support the commercial team with programme-related input for claims, extensions of time (EOTs), and change control
* Liaise with design, engineering and delivery teams to ensure alignment with programme objectives
* Produce regular reports, dashboards and look-aheads for internal and client use
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years'' experience in a planning role, ideally with a Tier 1 contractor
* Proven background in civil engineering projects - highways experience essential
* Proficient in Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* CSCS card (appropriate category)
* Desirable: Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. MAPM, MICE)
* Working knowledge of NEC contract programmes
* Experience on Highways schemes
