Are you looking for a veterinary role that's both fulfilling and inspiring? At Cambridge Veterinary Group, we're excited to welcome a new colleague to our well-established, friendly practice in one of the UK's most vibrant and historic cities. Whether you're eager to grow your clinical skills or simply want to be part of a collaborative, caring team, this could be the perfect next step in your career.
Modern Facilities with a Personal Touch
We're a medium-sized, single-site small animal practice dedicated to delivering high-quality, personalised care to a loyal and varied client base. Our facilities have been thoughtfully designed with both patients and the team in mind. With three spacious consulting rooms, a dedicated prep area, vivaria for reptiles and birds, an isolation unit, fully equipped theatre, and an imaging suite, we're set up to support excellent standards of care.
Our diagnostic and treatment tools include main beam and dental X-ray, flexible and rigid endoscopes, a video otoscope and VetPump, ultrasound, cryopen, K-laser, a Doppler blood pressure monitor, capnograph, multiparameter monitor, and a fully equipped internal lab. We even have a dedicated puppy paddock and school to support early socialisation and training.
A Varied Caseload That Keeps Things Interesting
Our patients include cats, dogs, and a wide variety of exotic species, making every day different. The role offers a good mix of consulting and surgery, with just over half your time spent with clients and their pets. Surgical work usually covers routine procedures and staged dentistry, while our medicine and surgical cases are managed to a high standard in-house. For the more complex cases, we work closely with excellent local referral centres.
A Team That Has Your Back
You'll be joining a close-knit team of seven vets, eight RVNs, and nine support staff. Among our vets are certificate holders in Advanced Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, Small Animal Medicine, and Exotic Animal Medicine, and our nursing team plays a vital role in patient care, running clinics in everything from preventative healthcare and nutrition to senior pet support and wellness checks.
We place a strong emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning. Clinical meetings, case discussions, and M&M reviews are a regular part of practice life, and we also benefit from the expertise of a visiting professor of ophthalmology who works closely with the team.
A Practice Recognised for Excellence
Our dedication to quality is reflected in our accreditations and achievements. We are RCVS accredited as a Small Animal General Practice, hold Chicken Vet accreditation, Bronze ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic status, and Silver RWAF Rabbit-Friendly Practice recognition. We've also been named one of the Top 3 Vets in Cambridge by Three Best Rated for three consecutive years – 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Part of the Community
Community is at the heart of what we do. We work closely with organisations such as Cats Protection and the RSPCA, helping to support animal welfare across the wider area.
Fix or flex – work life balance that works for you
We offer flexible working patterns that flex with you and your lifestyle. Whether you are looking to flex your rota hours to balance the school holidays, fix to navigate the school runs or just looking to strike that balance between home and work life. We can offer flexibility that actually works for you.
This is a full-time position of four 10-hours days, a mixture of consults and surgery, with a share in the weekend rota of Saturday morning consultations and responsibility for any inpatient care over the weekend. An hour's lunch break is scheduled along with consults finishing 30 minutes before the end of the day. Out-of-hours care is provided by a local centre, there is no on-call. A part-time role would also be considered for the right candidate.
