Engineering Project Manager

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex automation projects from concept through to customer handover. This role involves taking the design of a process, facility, or piece of plant and equipment, and managing the full lifecycle including design development, build, installation, commissioning, and final acceptance.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background as a Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls & Automation Engineer, with proven experience delivering automation projects, ideally involving automated conveyance systems and robotics.
Key Responsibilities:
* Determine customer delivery requirements and produce Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
* Identify all relevant stakeholders and establish the project delivery team.
* Identify, recruit, or deploy additional resources as required.
* Develop and manage detailed project delivery plans, including critical path analysis.
* Provide regular project updates using the NPDI system and attend weekly project review meetings.
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of Value for Money (VFM) principles and maintain a proven track record of delivering VFM on projects.
* Manage supplier selection through structured procurement processes to ensure VFM.
* Oversee order placement and manage agreed delivery dates in line with SQCDPE requirements.
* Manage and oversee suppliers or in-house teams to ensure manufacturing meets agreed standards and timescales.
* Lead installation and commissioning activities, providing progress updates and identifying risks to programme delivery.
* Define customer acceptance criteria and produce structured launch and handover plans.
* Drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, process, design, procurement, and delivery.
* Ensure all compliance requirements are planned, delivered, and closed out, including (but not limited to) CDM, UKCA, PUWER, and related regulations.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Qualified Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls & Automation Engineer (or demonstrable equivalent experience).
* Proven experience delivering automated process equipment, such as conveyor systems, process plant, or manufacturing facilities.
* Strong understanding of VFM engineering, including associated processes and implementation on projects.
* Experienced Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering multiple projects from concept to completion.
* Sound knowledge of CDM regulations, RAMS, lifting plans, and statutory documentation related to plant and equipment installation.
* Experience managing on-site teams covering mechanical and electrical installation, automation, commissioning, and compliance testing.
* Fully mobile and willing to travel across the UK and Ireland as required
