Electrician
Location: James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, TS4 3BW
Type: Full Time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week)
Shift: 8-week cycle working a mixture of days and nights (07:00 - 19:00 or 19:00 - 07:00)
Salary: £43,500.00 plus Serco benefits.

At Serco, we are looking for experienced Electricians to carry out planned and reactive electrical and some mechanical maintenance on-site. The Maintenance Craftsperson (Electrical) - shift will undertake minor improvements and capital works as directed by Estates management. Provide initial response to out-of-hours reactive requests (Electrical/Mechanical/Building) via the Help Desk and escalate as needed.
Main Responsibilities:
* Undertake planned preventative maintenance tasks as per a computerized schedule, recording actions and times.
* Perform reactive maintenance tasks on-site efficiently.
* Work as part of a multi-skilled team providing estate services.
* Comply with all Health and Safety regulations.
* Address requests and breakdowns effectively.
* Carry out electrical, mechanical, and building maintenance within your competence.
* Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
* Interrogate and modify building management system settings.
* Assemble equipment and install electrical circuitry.
* Perform routine maintenance tasks.
* Install minor electrical equipment such as pumps, outlets, and lighting.
* Assist with general maintenance duties as directed.
* Diagnose and repair electrical faults.
* Act as sterilizer test person as directed.
* Service and repair pneumatic and electronic control systems.
* Maintain automated laundry machinery.
* Undertake training relevant to the role, e.g., Competent Person Appointment.
* Respond to fire alarms, investigate, and determine necessary repairs.
* Understand lift operations and coordinate safe passenger release in case of failure.
* React promptly to plant alarms and resolve issues.
* Perform safe isolation procedures for contractors.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Completed recognized Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent training program.
* Level 3 NVQ or equivalent qualification.
* 18th Edition BS7671 certification.
* Proven experience in a similar environment.
* Knowledge of Electrical Building Services.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
