Hays have partnered with this organisation where the public interest is at the heart of what they do, who are looking to appoint a Head of Financial Reporting (IFRS) to their team on a permanent basis.
Your new role
This is a project based role which will involve delivering projects to influence the development of new or amended IFRS or delivering research projects.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
1. Influencing proposals and decisions, identifying and analysing any issues and concerns, and developing solutions, together with relevant technical arguments to support your analysis.
2. Gathering evidence and assessing stakeholders' views on the project and any proposals, by performing desk-based research on the existing material, outreach with stakeholders and other standard setters, using formal and informal means as appropriate. This may include presentations to stakeholders.
3. Preparing and presenting high-quality technical papers, discussing them with the wider project team, revising them when appropriate, within set deadlines.
4. Preparing impact assessments and Feedback Statements, as appropriate to the stage of the project.
5. Writing and arranging for publication of documents.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you will:
6. Have a relevant professional qualification or be a qualified accountant, with ideally 5 years PQE- however, this is desirable, not as essential.
7. Have good working knowledge and understanding of the financial reporting environment and a keen interest in IFRS.
8. Have experience in technical accounting work and/or standard-setting
9. Have the ability to create and maintain key external relationships.
10. Have the ability to interact effectively and respectfully with stakeholders
