Do you understand great design and have a passion for creating user-focused innovative, engaging and accessible digital experiences?
If so, we are looking for a Web Designer to support the design and development of William Reed’s web platforms. Playing a pivotal role in UX and UI design, the Web Designer will collaborate with the Senior Web Designer, Head of Design & UX and the wider digital team to create and design user-centric, responsive and accessible solutions by translating design ideas into intuitive interfaces and contributing clean, performant code that optimise user journeys and enhance William Reed’s digital presence.
What you’ll be doing:
User Experience & Research
1. Conducting user research and analysing data and user feedback to inform and enhance design decisions
2. Creating wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to visualise concepts
3. Applying UX best practices for usability and accessibility
Stakeholder Collaboration
4. Working closely with product managers, developers, and marketers to align goals
5. Presenting designs and gathering feedback to refine concepts
6. Balancing business objectives with user-centred design principles
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
7. Testing and optimising designs using tools like Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights
8. Troubleshooting and fixing front-end design and code issues
9. Maintaining and updating design components & stylesheets for consistency
10. Staying updated on industry trends to ensure modern, effective designs
Design & Front-End Development
11. Designing responsive, high-quality UI layouts aligned with brand guidelines
12. Developing designs using Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools
13. Optimising designs for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility
14. Collaborating with developers to ensure smooth design-to-code implementation
15. Converting designs into clean, semantic HTML & CSS (SASS/SCSS preferred)
Requirements
What you’ll need:
16. Proven track record designing and developing UX-focused websites and digital interfaces, ideally within B2B or digital publishing environments
17. Strong understanding of UX principles, accessibility standards, and responsive design
18. Understanding of cross-browser compatibility and mobile-first design approaches
19. Familiarity with performance optimisation tools (e.g. Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights) and skilled in design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
20. A strong background in graphic design, ideally with a passion for bringing brand guidelines to life
21. Excellent communication and collaborative skills with the ability to cultivate strong relationships cross-functionally with developers, marketers, and product managers
22. Fantastic organisation and prioritisation skills and attention to detail with self-drive and ability to manage multiple design projects, meet deadlines and work independently
23. A creative and imaginative mindset with the ability to innovate
24. Proficiency in HTML, CSS (SASS/SCSS) and working knowledge of JavaScript would be beneficial
