Aircraft Technician II for Landing Gear (GAC Farnborough)
Great opportunity to be a part of our growing Farnborough Service Center. We are adding landing‑gear technicians to join our back shop. Ideal candidates will possess the following skills:
* Using basic hand skills and tools.
* Experience in blending, hand finishing, grinding (preferred). Machining experience is also acceptable.
Education and Experience Requirements
Other GCSE required. Must possess basic mechanical skills, including use of hand tools. Experience in one (or more) of the following or related areas: sheet metal, hydraulic, landing‑gear, wheel, or brake overhaul.
Position Purpose
Repair, overhaul and certify aircraft landing gear, subassemblies and components in accordance with Gulfstream Repair Station requirements.
Job Description
Essential Functions
* Comply with all corporate or local company procedures.
* Set up, operate, and clean all necessary landing‑gear equipment and tooling.
* Ensure all work performed is in accordance with approved technical and regulatory data.
* Maintain and utilize required paperwork in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
* Conduct preliminary inspection and functional testing to assess components as required.
* Disassemble components, remove coatings, and clean parts in preparation for inspection; inspect all detail parts using blueprints, component and/or overhaul manuals and other required data to ensure conformity requirements are met; order necessary parts and/or components.
* Perform repairs of aircraft landing gear, subassemblies and components through removal, repair or replacement of defective parts and/or fabrication of replacement parts, and installation in accordance with blueprints, component maintenance manuals, vendor documents, verbal instructions, engineering dispositions, On‑The‑Job Training (OJT), and other authorized maintenance data. All activities must comply with Repair Station requirements to ensure all parts and assemblies meet conformance.
* Reapply applicable coatings to individual parts and reassemble components.
* Set up and operate necessary test equipment in accordance with required documentation to perform functional and operational tests for return to service.
* Demonstrate effective repair techniques using acceptable practices, including troubleshooting.
* Issue an authorized release certificate for components worked under the company component capability listing; must have demonstrated experience to be selected and approved, attend training, pass appropriate exams, and be approved by the QC department.
* Maintain and utilize all required paperwork in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including test equipment and peripherals.
* Comply with all company and legislative environmental health and safety regulations.
Additional Functions
* Utilize training and tools to effectively troubleshoot complex electrical circuits and/or systems during the component repair process.
* Complete training and instructing of Aircraft Component Repair I Technicians; must have attended a train‑the‑trainer course.
* Be flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements.
* Maintain an orderly and productive work environment.
* Assist with routine questions and problems, referring the more complex issues to higher levels.
* Act safely and professionally at all times.
* Function in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality.
* Read and interpret technical drawings and data required.
* Prioritize and work without close supervision.
* Communicate clearly with supervisors and co‑workers regarding status and shift turnover.
Perform other duties as assigned.
