Health Care Assistant (HCA) supports the care team under the supervision of registered nurses, midwives, and other professional staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with basic nursing care such as washing, moving and handling, mouth and eye care, urine testing, pressure area care and attending to patient comfort.
* Assist with transferring patients to the ward for discharge.
* Clean and prepare bed areas for new admissions.
* Dust equipment and bed areas daily and clear unused equipment.
* Clean and check equipment daily.
* Be aware of and implement the Trust’s procedures and protocols, including:
o Moving and Handling
o Barrier Nursing
o Cross Infection
o Cardiac Arrest
o Fire
o Major Incident
o Dealing with patients’ property
o Dealing with Violence and Aggression
o Incident Reporting
o Any other relevant procedures and protocols
Qualifications
* Basic nursing experience.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
