Head of Operations – Integrated Facilities Management

Mitie is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Operations to lead delivery across a high-profile national portfolio.
This is a critical leadership role, acting as deputy to the Account Director, where you will take ownership of operational performance, strengthen senior client relationships, and drive meaningful improvement across a complex, multi-site IFM contract.
This is not a maintenance role — it's an opportunity for a proven leader to step into a visible, high-impact environment and make a difference.
The Role
You will lead the delivery of integrated facilities services across multiple sites, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-performing operations across both hard and soft service lines.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading national IFM delivery across hard services (M&E, fabric) and soft services (cleaning, catering, workplace services, front-of-house)
2. Driving consistent performance against KPIs, SLAs, and contractual obligations
3. Leading, developing, and inspiring a team of senior operational leaders
4. Strengthening client confidence and stakeholder relationships at a senior level
5. Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and service innovation
6. Supporting the delivery of the Account Plan and wider strategic objectives
7. Ensuring full compliance across HSE, statutory, and contractual requirements
8. Leading performance reviews, reporting, and operational governance
What We're Looking For
Experience
9. Senior-level experience in Integrated Facilities Management (IFM)
10. Proven track record delivering multi-site, national portfolios
11. Strong experience across both hard and soft FM services
12. Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers, and complex delivery models
Leadership
13. Experience leading senior managers within multi-layered teams
14. Track record of transformation, stabilisation, or culture change
15. Ability to operate as a trusted number two with progression to Account Director
Client Engagement
16. Highly credible, confident, and visible with senior stakeholders
17. Strong relationship builder with the ability to influence and rebuild trust
18. Commercially aware and solutions-focused
Technical & Operational
19. Strong understanding of compliance, H&S, and statutory FM requirements
20. Commercially astute, with experience in budgets, reporting, and performance management
