Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon – Hip & Knee
Were looking for an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our dedicated team at Practice Plus Group Hospital Birmingham. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high‑quality elective orthopaedic care in a modern, purpose‑built hospital.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering specialist care, with a particular focus on joint replacements (hip and knee), arthroscopic knee surgery, and a variety of minor orthopaedic procedures. With first‑line cover provided by RMOs, the on‑call responsibility is minimal and shared on a rota with orthopaedic colleagues.
Main Duties
* Perform a wide range of elective orthopaedic procedures, including:
o Primary hip and knee replacements
o Knee arthroscopy and carpal tunnel release
o Joint injections and aspirations
o Additional minor procedures based on your expertise
* Deliver exceptional care across the patient pathway pre‑operative, intra‑operative, and post‑operative
* Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care
* Support and supervise junior clinical staff
* Participate in audit, clinical governance, service improvement, and teaching
* Engage in continuing professional development and actively contribute to departmental meetings and strategic planning
Qualifications & Experience
* GMC Specialist Registration in Trauma and Orthopaedics
* Demonstrated high‑volume experience (e.g., 250+ primary hip/knee replacements or 500+ arthroscopic procedures over 3 years)
* Strong clinical outcomes backed by NJR or equivalent data
* Excellent theatre efficiency and patient care record
* A collaborative team player with strong communication skills
* Commitment to evidence‑based practice, continuous improvement, and patient satisfaction
