CNC Machinists work with computer numerical controlled machine (CNC) heavy machinery from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal, plastic and other materials. Computer numerical controlled equipment is precision machinery that cuts, grinds, or drills into material. CNC machinists make adjustments to the machine to control speed, material feed and path of the cut, as well as make sure the machines are set up properly, working well and producing a quality product. They review the finished product to make sure it is defect free and ready for the next step in production. Main Responsibilities: Adhere to all Riggs policies and procedures regarding Quality, H&S and the Employee Handbook. Adhere to all training providers policies / procedures during time spent in their establishments. Represent Riggs in an appropriate manner whilst at college and training providers. (Do not discredit the company by inappropriate actions / behaviours. Meet ALL expectations of the Apprenticeship Framework. Meet all targets set throughout the apprenticeship with regard to college work, assignments and CMA deadlines. Follow established training/development plans. Demonstrate commitment and diligence and learn and gain experience on all processes as laid down in the individual development plans to an acceptable standard. Use of visual display/display screen equipment work for data purposes. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Riggs. The training you will be getting L2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing (Foundation Competence). L2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge). Throughout the apprenticeship the CMA will have the opportunity to work across varied departments within the organisation to assist in the development of their all round skills. Ultimately, this will allow the CMA to learn, develop and know how to put it all together and in the process derive self and work satisfaction from achieving weekly, monthly and yearly objectives and goals, and, become a fully time served CNC machinist with a flexibility that complements manufacturing requirements. What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship The CMA reports to the Apprentice Training Supervisor and is responsible for supporting all day to day production activities in line with their training to ensure high productivity and outputs are achieved. The CMA must work with Riggs policies and procedures. The CMA will be expected to achieve high standards of quality, in line with targeted levels of output whilst working safely and maintaining full product traceability. The CMAS role is one of continual development. Tasks and responsibilities will be reviewed periodically in line with modules completed on the Apprenticeship programme and business needs. It is Riggs Autopacks expectation that all apprentices will study and achieve the HNC as part of their advanced learning and if appropriate and suitable, the CMA may get the opportunity for further training/education such as studying at HND level.
