Job Title: Standards Development Manager

Location: Covent Garden, London (hybrid)

Type: Permanent, full-time

About the role:

Join BSI as a Standards Development Manager (SDM) and play a key role in shaping industry standards within the Medical Devices sector! This is a diverse and dynamic opportunity to manage national and international standards committees, drive strategic initiatives, and engage with industry leaders to influence best practices.

Our head office is based in The Acre, a landmark office building in the heart of Covent Garden. We occupy two levels designed to foster collaboration, support hybrid working, and promote wellbeing, creativity, and productivity. The Acre also sets new benchmarks for sustainability. Responsibilities:

1. Manage a portfolio of standards committees, projects, and programs, ensuring they meet market and stakeholder needs.
2. Engage with key stakeholders—including industry experts, government bodies, and trade associations—to grow and develop standards.
3. Drive strategic development, identifying opportunities for new standards and expanding BSI’s influence in the sector.
4. Represent the UK internationally, providing expert input on European and global standardisation efforts.
5. Ensure timely project delivery, overseeing workflows and collaborating with internal teams, including Content, Marketing, and Policy.
6. Provide expert guidance to committee chairs, participants, and stakeholders, facilitating discussions and building consensus.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

7. A background in healthcare, preferred.
8. Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage stakeholder expectations.
9. Project management expertise, capable of handling multiple publishing projects across various industries.
10. Excellent interpersonal skills, able to collaborate with professionals at all levels.
11. A proactive and strategic mindset, keen to identify new opportunities for standards development.
12. A keen eye for detail and appetite for fast-paced environments offering versatile opportunities and a supportive team environment.
