Overview
This role sits within the Trust’s Family and clinical support division and will oversee the Access to Health team as a Disclosure Manager.
Responsibilities
* Lead the handling and processing of all employment related Subject Access Requests (SARs) and information disclosure requests from police, HM Coroner, and the Courts.
* Provide high quality advice to staff on the handling of SARs and Access to Health Records requests.
* Support, mentor and manage a team responding to subject access requests for patient information, and Access to Health Records requests.
* Demonstrate substantial relevant experience of UK data protection legislation, specifically in handling complex SARs and legal disclosures; preferably in a paralegal or similar environment.
* Prioritise fluctuating demands to meet fixed deadlines and work independently.
* Demonstrate expert understanding of subject access requests and access to health records requests, with operational experience in processing these requests in compliance with legislation and ICO guidance.
* Train staff and embed standard operating procedures and good administrative practices in a dynamic, busy service.
* Compose professional written correspondence to respond to complex queries and requests.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experienced manager with a relevant data protection or information governance professional qualification.
* Thorough working knowledge of UK data protection legislation and the Access to Health Records Act.
* Substantial recent experience of handling complex SARs and legal disclosures.
