Despatch Operative - need to have a forklift licence
Job Description:
We are looking for a Despatch Operator to join Paragon’s Abbey View site in Wymondham, supporting outbound and inbound document services operations.
As the Despatch Operator, you’ll play a key role in the movement, storage, and despatch of goods and mail items, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all warehouse and production areas. You’ll work closely with internal teams, couriers, and clients to maintain smooth operations and support daily reporting and stock management.
Hours: Monday to Friday, rotating shift pattern:
* 06:00 – 16:00
* 09:00 – 19:00 (x2)
* 10:00 – 20:00
Main Responsibilities:
* Load and unload goods and mail from vehicles, ensuring all loads are secure.
* Move consumables and mail items (pallets, Yorks, etc.) to designated areas.
* Stack goods safely and correctly within storage bays.
* Perform daily equipment and forklift checks, reporting any damage or issues.
* Assist with goods-in tasks, including unloading couriers and stock deliveries.
* Print labels for production teams and use online systems to create invoices and end-of-day reports.
* Monitor job progress through the MI system and maintain accurate data records.
* Conduct consumable counts and update Excel spreadsheets.
* Support the warehouse team in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient workspace.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external clients.
* Adhere to all health and safety, data protection, and operational standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Previous experience working to tight deadlines in a warehouse or logistics environment.
* IT literate with confidence using MS Excel and online systems.
* Counterbalance forklift truck licence desirable (training can be provided).
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* Able to lift and manoeuvre items up to 22kg safely.
* Self-motivated, methodical, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
* Committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and service.
