Senior Advisor – UK BAT – Environment Agency
Join the Environment Agency as a Senior Advisor in the UK Best Available Techniques (BAT) team. You will shape UK environmental standards for industry and support a cleaner, safer environment.
Responsibilities
* Draft BAT conclusions and liaise with technical working groups.
* Present final documents as new UK‑wide environmental standards.
* Coordinate technical authors and review technical documents.
* Maintain inclusive incident management and develop training for incident roles.
* Travel and overnight stays may be required.
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental regulation across industrial sectors.
* Strong understanding of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation (IED, Environmental Permitting Regulations).
* Expertise in BAT conclusions, permitting, and environmental standards.
* Excellent verbal and written communication, planning, prioritisation and stakeholder engagement.
* Proven ability to analyse complex industrial data and build consensus.
* Strong project management and teamwork skills.
Experience & Skills
* Demonstrated impact of BAT conclusions on industry and environment.
* Experience coordinating and reviewing publication of technical documents.
* Ability to adapt to challenges, build consensus, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
