Blue Legal are partnering with a leading, award winning global law firm who are recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join their London office and support their European Litigation practice. The role requires the development of strong and effective working relationships within the Marketing Department, as well as with other professional business functions, and lawyers, across the Firm’s global platform.
The Responsibilities:
* Develops and executes marketing and client development strategies with practice/industry leaders, using data and market insights.
* Drives business development initiatives, including cross-marketing, prospect evaluation, and opportunity tracking.
* Manages BD infrastructure (materials, databases, contacts) and budgets; tracks ROI to guide planning.
* Partners with research/market intelligence teams to support growth initiatives and client pursuits.
* Leads planning and execution of new business opportunities, proposals, RFPs, and pitch preparation and debriefs.
* Oversees profile-raising efforts, including rankings submissions, events, thought leadership, and media visibility.
* Builds relationships and facilitates lawyer involvement in professional organizations to enhance market presence.
* Recruits, manages, and develops the BD team; sets goals, delegates work, provides coaching, and collaborates across functions.
The Candidate:
* 8+ years in marketing/business development; bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business/finance, or related field (advanced degree like MBA/JD a plus).
* Strong writing, proofreading, and critical thinking; proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience in law firm/professional services BD, litigation knowledge preferred.
* Familiarity with CRM and pipeline tools (e.g., InterAction, Salesforce, Foundation) and market research platforms; experience with rankings/awards processes.
* Proven supervisory/project management abilities; excellent organisation, judgement, communication, problem-solving, confidentiality, teamwork, and ownership mindset.
