Offer description

Do you have a passion for life and learning? If so, our inspirational teaching team at King Henry VIII School is looking for a colleague to join the Learning Support Department. Your dynamic and creative approach will help encourage and champion today’s pupils across Years 7 to Upper VI in one of the Midlands’ leading co‑educational independent schools. King Henry VIII School (as part of the Coventry School Foundation) provides a forward‑thinking and contemporary education for girls and boys across the whole West Midlands region. Located within a stone’s throw of Coventry railway station, King Henry’s has a diverse school community and is committed to inclusive recruitment and inclusion in the workplace. Our school aims, both in and out of the classroom, are clear.

Values

* To celebrate our diverse and inclusive community
* To inspire aspirational and authentic lifelong learners and leaders
* To empower courage, creativity and compassion in each student
* To nurture respectful, resilient and kind individuals

The team consists of the Head of Learning Support/SENCo, a Learning Support Teacher and two Learning Support Assistants, working from a Learning Support Hub and collaborating closely to provide support to pupils on the Learning Support register and teachers as required. Teamwork plays an important role within the department: staff enjoy enhancing the student experience by sharing good practice, resources, and ideas. We are looking for a well‑qualified graduate with QTS and, preferably, a Level 7 Certificate in Testing for Examinations Access Arrangements (TEAA). The candidate must demonstrate an active commitment to the values and expectations of our school community and to the welfare of the pupils within it. Enthusiasm to lead co‑curricular activities and to further enhance the student experience beyond the classroom is an important quality.

Qualifications and Experience

* Excellent SEND practice and knowledge
* The ability to support pupils across KS3, KS4 and KS5
* A talent for motivating and enthusing young learners to achieve their best and believe in themselves
* Kindness and open‑mindedness
* Intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm and a personal ethos of lifelong learning
* Resilience and optimism; willing to go the extra mile in the busy life of the school
* The ability to build positive and constructive relationships with pupils, taking a proactive approach to their wellbeing and mental health
* Team‑working abilities and a keenness to enable all colleagues to contribute ideas and be part of positive change
* Commitment to the well‑being and safeguarding of all students and staff
* Commitment to diversity, inclusion and anti‑racism in the school community
* A community of considerate, creative and compassionate students and staff

Benefits

* Competitive salary commensurate with experience
* Attractive defined contribution pension scheme
* Free onsite parking
* Free sport centre membership
* Free lunches
* School fee discount
* Cycle to work scheme
* Good CPD opportunities and mentoring
* Staff support for professional development through mentoring and coaching, using both internal and external expertise

We welcome applications from the independent and maintained sectors. The school operates its own generous and competitive pay scales and will offer a salary commensurate with experience and the nature of this role.
