About the Role
Our Controlling team within the Medical division, focused on global logistics management and supply chain, is currently recruiting an Assistant Controller on a full-time, permanent basis at our Willerby office.
As Assistant Controller, you will support product costing, logistics analysis, and group reporting for European distribution and warehousing operations.
You will be part of a close-knit 3-person team, reporting to the Senior Controller and collaborating with colleagues across Germany, North America, and other global locations. This role offers a unique opportunity to deepen your controlling expertise in a dynamic FMCG manufacturing environment, especially as we continue integrating systems and processes following the acquisition of BSN Medical by Essity.
What You Will Do
You will be responsible for core controlling activities including:
* Posting journals in SAP, performing reconciliations, and preparing Excel-based management reports.
* Supporting freight analysis and cost center accounting.
* Maintaining data in SAP, analyzing purchase price variances, and executing quarterly product cost and AP updates based on market requests.
* Serving as a point of contact with the Accounts Payable team for vendor invoicing and payments; managing internal approvals on logistics documents to avoid overdues.
* Providing financial insights to stakeholders in Logistics, Procurement, and Supply Chain for strategic and operational decisions.
* Applying inventory valuation and counting guidelines, executing inventory accounting.
* Supporting audits, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines, and executing system reconciliations.
* Managing performance processes within your department and ensuring follow-up actions.
* Promoting safety awareness and compliance across activities.
Who You Are
You should have some experience in controlling and be part-qualified in a recognised accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or AAT. An understanding of product costing and experience with SAP or another ERP system is advantageous. You must handle large data sets with an analytical flair, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex data volumes. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and good communication skills are essential, as most liaising will be via email, phone, or Skype rather than face-to-face.
