Salary: £31,650 - £47,338 (M1 – UPS2) depending on experience

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a SENCO to join a brand new SEND Secondary School in Horsham, for young neurodivergent people aged 11-16. The school is an innovative new provider for pupils with Special Educational Needs in the heart of Horsham, West Sussex, and has adopted a mixed academic approach to create an environment where young people can achieve their goals and thrive.
Key Duties:
This is a full-time SENDCO role in a specialist school where you will work within a transdisciplinary model with integrated therapy and a unique universal offer, liaising closely with the onsite therapy team led by a clinical psychologist. You will lead on educational interventions and specialist assessments. The role will include training and supporting all staff to support student needs and ensure their EHCP is appropriate, resourced, evaluated, and reported upon. As SENDCO, you will also be a valuable member of the senior leadership team, working collaboratively to engage students and their families. You will share responsibility for comprehensive training of all staff regardless of their role. This is an exciting and rare opportunity where you would be integral to setting up a unique SEND provision and building a bespoke curriculum with the support of the SLT.
Qualifications:
* QTS or QTLS is essential.
* Management/leadership qualification desirable.
* NPQSL/H/SENDCo or willingness to achieve within 2 years desirable.
Knowledge and Experience:
* Proven track record of excellent, creative, and structured teaching within relevant key stages and/or special needs environments.
* Experience of holding responsibility for and turning policy into effective and successful practice.
* Leadership of a significant area or phase of inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.
* Effective team management and collaboration skills.
* Strong communication skills for diverse audiences through various mediums.
* Successful management of complex scenarios and conflict resolution.
* Effective relationships with external agencies.
