1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time
Location: Blackpool
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (Term-Time Only)
Start Date: October 2025
A nurturing primary school in Blackpool is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support to a pupil with special educational needs. This full-time role is ideal for someone with a passion for inclusive education and a commitment to helping children overcome barriers to learning.
About the Role:
You’ll be working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support one pupil on a 1:1 basis, helping them access the curriculum and develop socially, emotionally, and academically. The role requires patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tailored support to a pupil with identified SEN
* Assist with learning activities, behaviour management, and emotional regulation
* Implement strategies outlined in the pupil’s EHCP or support plan
* Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents
* Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience working with children with SEN (in a school or similar setting)
* Strong understanding of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or other learning differences
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to build trust and rapport with children
* A calm, resilient and flexible approach to support
Desirable:
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN-specific training)
* Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
