Musselburgh Grammar School is a vibrant and ambitious secondary, serving the town of Musselburgh and the nearby village of Whitecraig. The Musselburgh community is strong, lively and loyal and our school sits proudly at the heart of it. Musselburgh is the largest town in East Lothian with easy access to the City Bypass and is only 5 miles east of Edinburgh city centre with excellent bus and train links.

We are a fully comprehensive school with approximately pupils ranging in age from 12 to 18, and over staff in total. Our vision is one of ambition and inspiration, and consistent with our school’s motto of ‘Striving for Excellence – Caring for All.’ We are determined to ensure that every young person receives the very best at MGS, so we're constantly innovating and looking for new ideas to improve our young people's experience.

Our pupil-centred approach and ambition for young people is also reflected in our school values of Honesty, Determination and Respect. Continuing to improve attainment and achievement is our key objective along with ensuring that our youngsters develop all the skills required for a positive and successful life after school and we continue to improve our exam results year on year. We believe in providing an inspiring, relevant and innovative education for our young people which best prepares them for their destination of choice post school.

Our Modern Languages Faculty is in an exciting time of change and improvement, and this is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, inspiring and committed teacher of Modern Languages. You will be part of a team of enthusiastic teachers who are passionate about teaching language and giving our young people a strong foundation in this area of the curriculum; giving them skills to equip them for life. You must be able to teach Spanish across all levels of the curriculum, and ideally teach one more language, but we are flexible about which second language this is. We are happy to consider applications from candidates wishing to work part-time.

If you have any questions, please contact Jodie Hannan, Headteacher, on for more information.

Applications will be accepted from those wishing to be considered for this role on a part-time basis. If you are applying for this role on a part time basis, please tell us in the Additional Information section of the application form.
