Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Floor Layer to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of flooring in commercial and residential settings. This role requires a strong understanding of construction principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Experience with hand tools, power tools, carpentry, and schematics will be highly valued. Responsibilities
* Prepare surfaces by cleaning, levelling, and assessing the area for flooring installation or repair
* Measure and cut flooring materials accurately using hand tools and power tools
* Install various types of flooring including hardwood, laminate, vinyl, or carpet according to specifications
* Follow schematics and technical drawings to ensure precise placement and alignment
* Use construction painting techniques for finishing touches when necessary
* Operate hand tools such as saws, chisels, and trowels safely and effectively
* Utilise power tools including drills, sanders, and cutters to facilitate installation processes
* Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards
* Maintain a clean and organised work environment throughout each project
Experience
* Previous experience in construction or flooring installation is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
* Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, carpentry techniques, and schematics is advantageous
* Knowledge of construction painting techniques is a plus
* Ability to read technical drawings and schematics accurately
* Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail and precision
* Good physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials safely and work on your feet for extended periods
