Overview
Salary on appointment will be £38,784 per annum, with an annual increment up to £46,049 per annum. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Associate to join the School of Psychology, in partnership with Norwich Medical School and Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, to adapt a psychological sleep intervention for young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties in schools and prepare for a clinical trial.
The project is funded by a Wellcome Trust grant and led by Dr Faith Orchard. It is a Foundation Phase award that funds the team to conduct foundational activities in preparation for the testing and implementation of the intervention.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate patient and public involvement activities with young people, parents and clinicians, alongside a charity partner.
* Support adaptations to the intervention materials.
* Coordinate a multidisciplinary steering group.
* Develop the trial protocol.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience in psychology, clinical psychology or psychological therapies.
* Experience of working with young people and conducting research on psychological disorders or interventions, with publications in respected journals within the field.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
* Advanced skills including patient and public involvement coordination, implementation science, leading a research project, and communicating research to non-specialists (advantageous).

Full‑time post available from 1 August 2026 on a fixed‑term basis for nine months.
