Freelance Language Support Specialists
Location: Central London
Contract length: ad-hoc basis on-going
Pay Range: £32 per hour dependent on experience and maybe negotiable
Are you fluent in Dari, Pashto, or related dialects such as Farsi or Urdu? Our client is a consultancy seeking highly skilled linguists to provide critical language support for sensitive and impactful public service work in London.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced interpreters and translators who are passionate about cross-cultural communication, detail-oriented, and looking to contribute to meaningful, people-focused casework.

What you will doing
Translating complex written documents between English and Dari, Pashto or related languages
Ensuring high standards of accuracy and cultural sensitivity in all communications
Supporting case officers by clarifying meanings, cultural context, and intent
Collaborating with other language professionals to ensure consistency and best practice
Occasionally attending meetings or briefings where language support may be needed
Maintaining absolute confidentiality with sensitive material
What we are looking for
Fluent in at least one of the following: Dari, Pashto, Farsi, Urdu
A strong grasp of written translation and the ability to adapt tone and intent appropriately
Awareness of cultural and regional nuances, including formal document recognition
Comfortable using Microsoft Office and learning bespoke systems
Punctual, dependable, and able to work professionally in confidential environments
Experience supporting clients navigating immigration and legal processes in high-sensitivity environments desirable not essential
You may have experience in the following
Background in providing language services for humanitarian, legal, or social support organisations
Worked in contexts involving cross-border resettlement, legal documentation, and individual case support
Experience with individuals undergoing legal, relocation, or documentation proceedings in complex environments
Previous work with organisations assisting displaced individuals or those in transition through formal systems."
Supported communities in understanding legal or procedural information related to residency, documentation, or status changes
Involved in translation and support for individuals engaged in regulated, rights-based application processes."
