Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an RMN Band 5 Staff Nurse within Dunure Ward based at Ailsa Hospital
Hours:
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
37.0 hours per week working day and night shift as required to meet needs of the ward: 0700-1930 or 1930-0700
This post is offered on a fixed term basis to 28/02/2027.
What you will do:
You will work as an RMN in a very busy ward providing Hospital Based Complex Clinical Care for older people with complex functional mental health and physical health conditions. You will work in a collaborative manner with patients and the wider team and MDT. You will function as a named nurse and be responsible for co-ordinating the care of those patients for whom you have named nurse or daily responsibility. You will escalate concerns timeously to the appropriate person, be it medical staff, DCN or SCN.
You duties will include:
1. (where agreed) have delegated responsibility for the development and line management of non registered nursing staff
2. Supporting creation of an environment in which effective learning can take place.
3. Where acting as a named nurse coordinating the involvement of the multidisciplinary team in the care of individual patients
4. Supporting required audit activity and ensuring own care is in line with best practice wherever evidence is available
5. Ensuring personal adherence with relevant legislation such as Adults With Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000, Mental Health (Care & Treatment)(Scotland) Act 2003, Criminal Procedures (Scotland) Act 1995, Adult Support and Protection
