Overview

With every community, Stantec redefines what’s possible. We are seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our 2026 Graduate Programme in our Edinburgh office. From day one, you will contribute to impactful water projects locally and nationally, helping develop better ways to obtain, clean, and distribute water for communities.

Application Deadline

Recruitment is ongoing. Please apply as soon as possible, as the advert may close once we have sufficient applicants.

Your Role

You will support projects from outline through detailed design, contributing to drawings and design calculations across initiatives such as flood alleviation and pollution management schemes. Your day-to-day work may include:

* Using mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS).
* Technical report writing.
* Preparing survey specifications.
* Undertaking site visits.

Clients may include Northumbrian Water. Stantec has been appointed to their capital framework for North East infrastructure work, supporting an ambitious programme that includes the design, construction, and commissioning of new water and wastewater infrastructure, as well as the modification and refurbishment of existing assets.

About You

We value your potential over past experience. You should have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and demonstrate the following:

* An Adapter: You remain calm in changing situations and switch comfortably between varied tasks.
* A Perseverer: You approach challenges with confidence and determination.
* A Collaborator: You work effectively with diverse teams and consider different perspectives to shape better outcomes.
* A Problem-Solver: You offer thoughtful insights and are unafraid to challenge conventional thinking.

Working Pattern

To ensure the right level of support, graduates are asked to be in the office 4 days per week.

What We Offer You

* A competitive salary.
* Private medical insurance.
* A range of benefits, including holiday buy and sell, group income protection, and life assurance.
* A permanent employment contract, reflecting our commitment to your long-term career at Stantec.
* A professional progression plan supporting you toward ICE chartership.
* A supportive and collaborative team environment, Early Careers peer group, and wider Employee Resource Group (ERG) network.
