Sure Antennas Limited are a dynamic and forward-thinking company based in the Bromborough in the Wirral. We design, manufacture and supply specialist vehicle antennas, predominantly used by the emergency services and public safety sectors. As we continue to grow, we are now seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to support the R&D manager and the team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our highly skilled development team. The main purpose of the role is: To design, develop, and support mechanical components and assemblies within R&D. The role supports product development from concept through production and field use. The position is ideal for graduates, early-career engineers, and experienced mechanical engineers. Responsibility and scope will scale with experience. Key responsibilities include: Mechanical designing of components and assemblies for new and existing products. Creating and maintaining 3D CAD models and 2D drawings. Designing for manufacture and assembly using CNC machining, die casting, moulding, and sheet metal. Working closely with RF and electronics engineers on integrated designs. Support prototyping, testing, and design iteration. Assisting with tolerance analysis, material selection, and finish specification. Supporting production with build issues, improvements, and cost reduction. Assisting with environmental, vibration, and ingress protection testing. Producing clear mechanical documentation and specifications. The successful candidate will: Have a Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Have practical mechanical engineering experience. Be confident in producing manufacturable designs, not just concept CAD. Have an understanding of materials, tolerances, and mechanical interfaces. Be able to work hands-on with prototypes and production parts. Have clear technical communication and documentation skills. It may be an advantage if you have: Previous experience working with vehicle-mounted products. Knowledge of sealing, IP ratings, and vibration resistance. Exposure to rubber moulding, over moulding, or potting. CNC machining and die-cast part design experience. Basic understanding of electronics or RF packaging. Experience supporting compliance or environmental testing.
