Core responsibilities of the Salaried GP: Provide high-quality, patient-centred general medical services to the practice population. Undertake a mixture of face-to-face, telephone and video consultations, supported by the practice's total triage model. Act as the daily Duty Doctor (Doctor On Call) on a rotational basis, overseeing the management of urgent same-day clinical demand.This involves clinically triaging incoming patient requests through the total triage system, determining the most appropriate outcome, including self-care advice, signposting, administrative resolution, telephone consultation, same-day assessment, routine appointment booking, or referral to other healthcare professionals within the multidisciplinary team. Prescribing inaccordance with the accepted prescribing formulary (or generically) wheneverthis is clinically appropriate. Effective management of long-term conditions Review and action pathology results, correspondence, DOCMAN, prescriptions using EPS and other clinical tasks in accordance with practice protocols. Participate in clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, and service development activities. Contribute to the achievement of QOF, enhanced services and other contractual requirements. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical records using the practice clinical system. In accordance with thepractice timetable, the post holder with make themselves available to undertakea variety of duties including telephone triage, surgery consultations,telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking andsigning repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork andcorrespondence in a timely fashion. Making professional,autonomous decision in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referredor referred from other health care workers within the organisation or externalorganisations. Assessing the healthneeds of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screening patients fordisease risk factors and early signs of illness. Contributing to QOFrequirements and Manchester Standards and recording data appropriately. In consultation withpatients in line with current practice disease management protocols, developingcare plans for health related illnesses. Screening patients forhealth education. Admitting anddischarging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other careproviders as appropriate. Recording clear andcontemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Compiling and issuingcomputer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwrittenprescriptions whenever possible). In general, the postholder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilitiesassociated with a GP working within primary care, as set by Royal College ofGeneral Practitioners, General Medical Council, all other Royal colleges andcouncil applicable to the staff within the practice, Department of Health, NHSEngland, OCCG and all other regulatory and standard setting organisations.
