NHS Talking Therapies Trainee High Intensity Practitioner

Overview
The NHS Talking Therapies Gloucestershire is a growing service providing NICE‑compliant, evidence‑based clinical interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other approved therapies. As a high intensity trainee, you will undertake an intensive one‑year PGDip in Psychological Therapies Practice (High Intensity CBT) while delivering face‑to‑face, telephone and digital therapy appointments across the county.
Key Responsibilities
* Attend University of Exeter teaching blocks (up to nine seven‑day blocks, with two days per week of teaching) and complete the PGDip curriculum.
* Provide high intensity CBT assessment and interventions, adhering to NICE guidance, for patients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
* Receive clinical supervision from both the Trust and the University to develop clinical skills.
* Work flexible hours outside 9‑5 to meet service opening times, including weekends and evenings when required.
* Attend induction and training events at the Trust and University and complete mandatory induction procedures before commencing the course.
* Prepare and present a KSA portfolio (knowledge, skills, attitudes) at interview and ensure it meets BABCP standards.
* Comply with the Trust’s data protection, safeguarding, and disclosure procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
* Undergraduate degree (or equivalence) in a mental‑health related discipline (psychology, neuroscience, social work, etc.) or a BABCP‑recognised core professional qualification.
* Evidence of substantive post‑qualification experience (≥2 years) in mental health services, including stepped‑care provision for anxiety and depression.
* Demonstrated supervised CBT practice and foundational or sustained CPD in CBT.
* Strong foundational experience delivering psychoeducational courses and /or primary‑care services.
* Valid UK driving licence and own transport for community‑based work.
* Ability to travel across the county and work outside standard hours.
* Availability to attend intensive university blocks, including periods of full‑day teaching.
* Experience working with diverse and multicultural communities.

Other Requirements
* Must become a member of the BABCP, BPS or equivalent upon appointment.
* Subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DAS) check.
* Subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
