* Base salary range: $104,243 – $115,661 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.


About the area

UWA is a leading research‑intensive university and a member of the Group of Eight. The Office of Research develops policy, provides strategic advice and supports the effective coordination of internal and external research activities. Within this, the Research Ethics and Integrity unit promotes responsible research conduct, offering guidance, education and oversight in line with the Australian Code. It also manages complaints and allegations to ensure fairness and compliance. The Animal Welfare Office ensures the ethical care and use of animals in research and teaching, assessing compliance with approved protocols and relevant legislation, and monitoring animal welfare and adverse events.


About the opportunity

* Provide advice and support on research integrity and animal welfare, applying relevant codes and University policies to compliance activities, investigations and initiatives that promote responsible research conduct.
* Interpret policies and procedures, adapt work practices within guidelines and apply theoretical principles to resolve routine to moderately complex issues, escalating complex matters to senior staff.
* Exercise sound judgement in managing sensitive complaints, investigations and adverse events, while building effective relationships across faculties, schools and divisions.


About you

* A degree with at least four years' subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise in research administration, compliance, or integrity fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
* Knowledge of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, research integrity issues in Australian higher education, and the inter-relationships between academic and administrative policies and activities.
* Knowledge of the Australian Code for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes and relevant State and Commonwealth animal welfare legislation.
* Ability to interpret and apply existing policy to work assignments, adapt procedures to fit policy prescriptions, and modify techniques to solve moderately complex problems, escalating to senior staff where required.
* Understanding of the principles of procedural fairness and natural justice, with the ability to apply these principles in managing sensitive complaints, investigations, and compliance matters.
