Assistant Accountant: Edinburgh: Fully Office Based
W&A are delighted to be partnering with an Edinburgh based firm who are going from strength to strength with exciting growth plans over the next year.
The successful individual will be a highly motivated Assistant Accountant who can help deliver excellent levels of service. You should be comfortable using initiative when required and enjoy the challenge of new learning experiences.
The successful candidate would be working alongside trainee and qualified accountants so a great support network provided. In your role you will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of regular monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities :
* Preparation of quarterly management
* Preparation of forecasts and quarterly board packs
* Preparation of VAT returns and compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines
* Assisting Trainee Accountants with the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers and internal controls around these
* Overseeing the preparation of payments and expenses
* Review of Finance Assistant postings of client invoices and expense reports
* Preparation of financial statements
* Liaising with auditors and tax advisers and arranging timely filing of returns
* This will include answering audit queries and providing back up for transactions via auditor portals
Experience Sought:
* Part Qualified experience or Graduate with excellent relevant practical experience
* Experience in preparing complete management accounts packs and financial statements for Limited Companies and Partnerships
* Confidence in dealing with third parties and ability to deal with all levels of seniority
* Strong team player with experience working in a fast paced and dynamic environment
* Confidence to assist in training and developing junior team members
* Experience in Xero and Microsoft 365
* VAT experience would be beneficial but is not essential
